Arboretum Opens New “Gateway to Chile” Garden
More than 200 visitors gathered at Pacific Connections on Sunday, October 17, for the opening of the new Gateway to Chile garden and to enjoy Chilean folk dancing, live Latin American traditional music, and complementary refreshments—not to mention the lovely warm fall weather. Located at the south end of the Arboretum, the half-acre Gateway looked stunning; but as with all new gardens, it will take time to mature into a finished display. Didn’t make it to the opening ceremony? See this short video about the event produced by UW Botanic Gardens. We’ve also posted lots more photos from the event on our Facebook page. You can read about some of the beautiful plants in the Gateway to Chile in the latest edition of the Washington Park Arboretum Bulletin.
