October 4 Walks & Talks to Highlight Colorful Fall Fruits

Malus toringoides 'Macrocarpa' in Crabapple Meadow.

Our next Arboretum Walks & Talks tour—offered to Arbor Circle, Legacy Circle, and Steward-level members—is on Thursday, October 4, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Entitled “An Autumn Fruit Scavenger Hunt,” it will be led by our very own Randall Hitchin. Randall is the Outreach and Volunteer Program Manager at the Foundation. He’s also a certified plant nut, having worked for more than a decade as the collections manager at the Arboretum.

Randall will lead us on a tour through the environs of the Visitors Center and nearby Oak collection to see a cornucopia of  trees and shrubs with spectacular fall-ripening fruits—in reds, oranges, purples, and blues.

Event schedule:

4:00 PM — Meet at the Graham Visitors Center
4:15 PM — Tour of the summer-blooming plants
5:30 PM — Refreshments and conversation at the Visitors Center

Rain or shine. Dress for the weather. Please RSVP by Wednesday, October 3 to Cynthia Welte either by email or phone (206-325-4510)
