UW Students Create Step-Pool Drainage System to Address Problem Site in Arboretum
Saturated soil conditions were causing problems in the Holly Collection at the Arboretum. Then, last year, as a capstone project for their major in Environmental Science and Resource Management, a group of UW students constructed an innovative weir system to help channel water on the site. They also planted the weir with native wetland grasses and ferns to create habitat for local wildlife. Read about the project in the latest issue of the Washington Park Arboretum Bulletin.
