The Arboretum Loop Trail project is proceeding apace. In mid-October, crews completed the construction of a level, concrete section of the trail across the south end of Arboretum Drive, and then reopened the Drive to regular pedestrian and bike traffic.

Paving of the trail from Madison Park to the Birch Parking Lot (near Interlaken Boulevard) has also been completed. “Ohno Construction crews have done a great job through the wettest October on record, completing the trail paving to the half-way point at the Birch Lot,” says Seattle Parks and Recreation project manager Garrett Farrell.

“The trail entry and street work at East Madison Street and 31st Avenue East still need to be done. Our goal is to open the trail section from 31st to Arboretum Drive to the public by early 2017 at the latest. Bench and signage installation, and other work, also has to happen before we can open that section.”

“A considerable amount of work still needs to be done on the section of the trail running from Arboretum Drive to the Birch Lot. Crews will be working through the winter on this, as well as on parts of the trail north of the Birch Lot, weather permitting.”
