About 2,200 people came to our annual Maple Viewing Festival at the Seattle Japanese Garden on Sunday, October 23. Visitors patiently waited in long lines for up to 45 minutes to enter the garden.

But we think they were well rewarded. The garden was ablaze with fall foliage! The Seattle PI published an article with more than 20 stunning photos of the event.

Besides the amazing scenery, visitors enjoyed riveting taiko performances by UW Taiko and Kaze Daiko, nature-inspire craft making with UW Botanic Gardens educators, and a maple tree scavenger hunt.

Thanks to everyone who came to the festival. And thanks for your patience at the gate!! We’ll work on ways to shorten the wait time for next year!
