In recent decades, thousands of studies have provided compelling evidence that nature experiences are the source of extensive human health, social, and psychological benefits.

In the latest issue of the Arboretum Bulletin, Kathleen Wolf—a research social scientist with the University of Washington School of Environmental and Forest Sciences—summarizes some of the main findings. She also discusses how we might design our urban parks and natural areas to maximize benefits for both people and wildlife.
