This year’s GiveBIG, on May 8, was a tremendous success! A total of 185 donors helped us raise $44,206 in support of tree care, environmental education, and volunteerism at the Arboretum. This amount includes a matching gift challenge of $16,000 made possible by a group of generous Foundation members. The total may increase further, because we have been receiving a lot of mailed-in gifts this year.
A very BIG thanks to everyone who donated! Special thanks to our matching grant donors—and to 501 Commons for taking over the GiveBIG reins from the Seattle Foundation so seamlessly and hosting such a marvelous philanthropic event.
Here are testimonials from some of our GiveBIG2019 donors, explaining why they chose to support the Arboretum:
“We love the Arboretum as it is a special, unique, and magical gem space for an urbanized city.”
“What would spring afternoons be without wandering through the Arboretum, waiting to see what new nook one will discover or serene vista to be inspired by? Thank you for creating such a beautiful treasure for our city.”
“I visit the Arboretum two to three times per week. I enjoy the tranquility, smells, and sounds. I also enjoy the birds and other animals that call the Arboretum home. The Arboretum is my oasis in the middle of this big city. I appreciate the huge amount of effort and resources that are required to keep the arboretum beautiful for everyone to enjoy.”
