  • Another Remarkable Day of Caring!

Volunteers from D.A. Davidson and Microsoft mulched the entire Waterfront Trail on Marsh Island.

Another year, another wonderful Day of Caring!

On lucky Friday, September 13, more than 130 volunteers from Microsoft, Amazon, Impinj, D.A. Davidson, Chef Software, US Bank, and Physicians Insurance spent the day in the Arboretum pulling weeds, spreading mulch, and cleaning signs and benches. Some neighborhood volunteers also joined in the fun.

The Foundation worked with its Arboretum partners at UW Botanic Gardens and Seattle Parks and Recreation to coordinate the volunteers and the various projects around the park.

  • Volunteers from Amazon, Physicians Insurance, and US Bank removed 4,000 square feet of weeds from the Holly Collection.
  • Impinj volunteers spread 40 yards of mulch and pulled 3 Gator-truck loads of weeds in the sequoia grove near the Seattle Japanese Garden.
  • Volunteers from Chef spread 12 yards of mulch and removed 8 truck loads of weeds from the Asian Maple Collection.
  • Microsoft volunteers hauled 10 truck loads of ivy and blackberry from the Pine Hillside along Azalea Way.
  • Microsoft volunteers weeded 2,000 square feet of blackberry from the banks of Arboretum Creek.
  • Volunteers from D.A. Davidson and Microsoft spread 40 cubic yards of mulch along the Waterfront Trail.
