  • Plant Sale Cancelled, Earth Day Work Party Postponed & Other Updates

As COVID-19 continues to make headlines both here and abroad, our hearts out go to all those affected in our area and beyond.

Based on evolving guidance, we’d like to share the latest plans for upcoming Foundation events and programs:

The annual Arboretum Spring Plant Sale fundraiser, scheduled for April 4, is cancelled. To help protect our volunteers, we have also postponed the 2020 season launches of our Plant Donations Nursery and Garden Stewards programs. We will reassess the situation next month and let you know of any changes in our approach.

We are also suspending operations for the Pat Calvert Greenhouse, with the exception of some limited plant-maintenance chores, accomplished by individual volunteers. Since the Visitors Center and Gift Shop are currently closed, we are looking into the possibility of setting up an alternate method for customers to purchase greenhouse plants. Stay tuned!

Heartfelt thanks to our many dedicated volunteers! We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Earth Day Work Party Postponed

The Earth Day at the Arboretum event, scheduled for April 25, has been postponed. However, the spirit of Earth Day is much bigger than a single day, and as we honor this year’s special 50th anniversary, please watch for an updated schedule of 2020 events. We will announce the new work party date and other plans ASAP.

Social Distancing in the Arboretum

City parks are treasured places of sanctuary and respite – even more so during such stressful times. Current medical and epidemiological advice about COVID-19 recommends keeping at least six feet from other individuals when indoors. We ask that visitors use the same precaution while outdoors in the Arboretum.
