In the latest issue of the Arboretum Bulletin, UW Botanic Gardens Curator of Living Collections Ray Larson writes his annual, in-depth review of new plantings in the Arboretum. Ray talks about large-project plantings in Rhododendron Glen, Pacific Connections, the Hybrid Rhody Garden, and the new Witch-Hazel collection area. He also profiles some exciting individual plantings around the grounds.
New rare-plant accessions include a large Wollemi pine (Wollemia nobilis) in the Australia Entry Garden, donated by a private homeowner in Corvallis, Oregon, and a Franklin tree (Franklinia alatamaha) planted in the main Camellia Collection along Arboretum Drive.
