  • Hardy Succulents for Northwest Gardens

Looking to add to more drought-tolerant, water-wise plants to your Pacific Northwest garden? In the latest issue of the Arboretum Bulletin, garden designer and writer Phil Wood profiles hardy succulent plants that perform well in sunny, well-drained areas of the yard.

They range from large, arborescent shrubs such as Nolina nelsonii from northern Mexico to diminutive groundcovers, such as our native Sedum oreganum (pictured above in the Arboretum’s Cascadia Forest).

This article is part of our Tried and True Plants series, all of which is published on the Foundation website.
