She discusses how our rich and sophisticated native flora is oddly overlooked by many local gardeners and garden centers, and how her design firm, Seattle-based GGN, has been experimenting with layered mixes of native prairie plants that can create beautiful, wildlife-friendly gardens in almost any situation—including hell strips, side yards, and crummy, fill-derived urban soils.
