  • A New Chapter for Arbor eNotes

This month marks the final edition of Arbor eNotes, the Arboretum Foundation’s monthly newsletter that has kept Seattle-area plant and garden lovers informed for more than 20 years.

Beginning in September, you’ll start receiving updates from Seattle Botanic Gardens (SBG), a new nonprofit organization that brings together the Arboretum Foundation and the University of Washington Botanic Gardens. Our work to build SBG is unfolding step by step throughout 2026, and our unified communications platform is just one way our organization is evolving.

By uniting these organizations, we can offer a more connected experience across the gardens, programs, and natural spaces you know and love and bring you stories, events, and opportunities from across our growing community.

What to Expect

Starting in September:

  • You’ll receive a new Seattle Botanic Gardens newsletter from news@seattlebotanicgardens.org.
  • You’ll get updates, event notices, and stories from across our three locations—Washington Park Arboretum, Center for Urban Horticulture, and the Seattle Japanese Garden.
  • You’ll have the option to subscribe to additional newsletters focused on specific programs and interests.

What to Do: Mark Address as Safe

Please add news@seattlebotanicgardens.org to your safe senders list to make sure our emails land in your inbox (and not your spam folder). This is an important step — without it, our emails may not reach you after the switch. The instructions for marking an email address as safe vary among email providers. Here are instructions for Outlook,  Gmail, and Apple Mail.

You’re Always in Control

Your privacy matters to us. As Seattle Botanic Gardens launches, you’ll be able to:

  • Choose which emails you’d like to receive.
  • Update your preferences at any time.
  • Unsubscribe whenever you choose.

We do not sell your personal information, and we are committed to protecting the trust you’ve placed in us.

August Pause

Our enewsletter will take a break in August 2026, though you’ll continue to receive email notices about special events—such as August’s Music in the Arboretum concerts—from the Foundation. In September, we’ll send a welcome email from Seattle Botanic Gardens, with details about managing your enewsletter subscription preferences.

Thank You

Thank you for being part of our Arboretum community. We’re excited to begin this next chapter together and look forward to keeping you connected with the plants, places, programs, and people that make Seattle Botanic Gardens so special. Keep an eye on seattlebotanicgardens.org. Our new website is in development, and we plan to have a provisional website for the new organization up and running by late fall 2026.

See you in September!

Sarah Hilbert is the Communications Director at Seattle Botanic Gardens.
